I won't get my first fill til about the 11 week mark...VERY NERVOUS. I wish I had a fill a week ago at my last appt. still losing but slower! So glad that your experiennce was positive! Lisa

i'm set to have an appointment next week, and likely my first fill at 6 weeks post op too....but i'm contemplating canceling the appointment.

If i'm losing the weight, should I still get a fill? Hearing positive outcomes of a fill is encouraging, but all the same, shouldn't I wait till i'm stagnant on the scale or until I need a boost to keep losing?

What's everyone else think?

~David.

The fill is just a took to aide with not feeling hungry all the time, so if your eating 3 meals a day....and not feeling hungry in between ...don't fix what's not yet broken lol don't cancel your appointment though as you can discuss with you dietician and through effective question can help you decide whether you need a fill or not. Hope this helps .....I'm not due for my first fill till 22 this month, but I can only make Saturday appointments so have to wait till next month. At the moment I don't feel hungry between meal,...it takes me 40-50 mins to eat a very small meal (young child size) so I am happy to wait, but I do talk to my dietician on the phone or by email :-)

I was seriously thinking the exact same thing?! But I won't cancel my appt till the very last minute-just in case. I figure if I get a fill, I will get a very small one, because I feel like I am losing steadily without it, why mess with it?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
