My mom and my sister know already. It's just my dad that i am going to tell a few days before the surgery. I plan on having the surgery done in late dec. early Jan and if i tell him now, he will tell everyone he knows. I know they keep you overnight after the surgery is that what you are talking about? or do they keep you overnight to do some sort of testing before that. Good luck with your band!

Ariel, when I went to the Brigham info session, they said, one night for lap band and up to 3 nights for Gastric bypass. Through my entire pre op session, I was told I would most probably be kept overnight. Now, if you have your band put in first thing in the morning, maybe they will dismiss you by evening, but I had my surgery at 6:30 pm, and they wanted to do a gulp xray (upper GI) and make sure that everything was OK before they let me go. So I spent Wensday night in the hospital, and was home by Thursday evening. BTW, have you gone to any of the lapband monthly support groups at B&W??

all my best wishes

Caroline

Hi Sueol, i am just begining the process as well. I have tufts health plan. I am not sure how long the process will take but let me tell ya getting an app. is hard. i called the day after the seminar (somewhere around july 28) and they said the earliest app. was for oct. 28. The meeting is a breeze but i would get there early because the seats fill up. Goodluck!!

Hi,

I was banded at Brigham on 8/2/06. First, you have to go through the seminar, then you have an appointment with surgeon. Try to scedule the meeting with your surgeon, the nutritionist and the psyc doctor on the same day. Then after those are done, Brigham will deal with AETNA, because they (AETNA) won't approve you until those appoints. are done with and they have the psyc doctors report. Then you have to have blood drawn and an upper GI series. ( ask if the upper GI can be done at your local hospital and then you can fedex the CD to the surgeon, that will save you a trip to the city) - Then, if those all come out OK, you go in for pre opp about 2 weeks before your surgery. More blood draw. Try to schedule your surgery first thing in the morning, mine was scheduled at 2 pm and I didn't get operated on until 6 pm. During the day things get backed up. As far as the hospital, it is great, nurses are great - All are top notch.- anymore questions- please ask from start to finish mine took 3 1/2 months.

Very exciting, Jim. Dr. Haag performed my surgery also. Their office is well organized, and you'll do really well.

Anyone else have their surgery at St. Elizabeths Medical Center???

My sister had her child there and they almost killed them both - I'd recomend Beth Isreal or Brigham -

LOKILUVR - Dr. Haag does a top notch job. He's also not as strict as some of the surgeons that you read about on here, making it less pressure for you as the patient.

BLUEHILL - How do you know the brand/size of your band? I have wondered what mine is, and I don't recall Dr. Haag mentioning it???

Cuz I asked him. Put it on your list of things to ask Dr. Haag at your first fill.

Woooo Hooooo, My first appointment with Dr. Haag is tomorrow morning !!! I'm so happy this is rolling!! Also I have some weird stuff going through my head, like what if he won't do it because he don't like me? or I answer something the way he don't like,,or worse yet, what if he does not like where I'm employed?? Really that is the biggest one,,, it's sort of very controversial,,,,,uuuuggggghhhhh what do I do???

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
