Recommended Posts

On my way to my first visit.... Feeling like this has been useless. I read where people have lost 15-30 pounds by now.... I think I lost 12. Found out my scales are broke. A can weigh 198 and 206 within 30 seconds of each other!!! Ugh. Just not a skippy day. And I want a cigarette!!! Yes still smoke free 6 days.

I lost 9 on my first visit. my Dr thought that was great! I was a little discouraged, but felt better after talking to him and getting a fill.

Sounds like you are doing good even with no fill and a broken scale. It can get a little discouraging at first, but as time goes on it gets better. I started out fast and am down to about 1 pound per week. I get a fill every 6 to 8 weeks with my last fill being only .5cc, but am filled well this time. 7 months post surgery and down 70 pounds. Keep up the good work and it does get better.

Thanks for the encouragement. Think I was having a hissy fit moment. I have lost 12 pounds which they think is wonderful. I'm not impressed. They did tell me to up my Protein as that im not eating enough. Started in mushers tonite. 5 bites if chicken I was done. That was at 6. Still not hungry but, I feel like I can't get enough to drink! Prob from heat and humidity here.

So the doctor tells me you lost 28 pounds and my first response was is that good because that sounds low to me. He said you are doing great keep up the good work. And at your 4 week check in you will get your first fill. So I understand how you feeling regarding not thinking your on track.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
