On holiday cant eat !

Recommended Posts

I'm really sorry if this the wrong place but was not sure where to put it. I'm on holiday abroad another ten days to go. I'm barely able to eat, usually manage about four ounces around nine pm at night. I'm on diabetic medication which I cannot tolerate, I'm keeping a good eye on my blood sugars and they are low not high so supplementing with orange juice . I can get Water down and if I concentrate I can manage juice. I have a further three stone to lose so that's ok. Any thoughts from you all would be appreciated. I'm feeling a little scared and lonely so far away from my support mechanisms.

I would recommend contacting your doctor for advice. They should have someone on call for you to reach. With my own experience, when I get stressed my band tighten's up greatly. I have about 5.5cc in a 10cc band and when I got sick a few months back, the stress and anxiety had my band feeling like it was overfilled. I spoke with my Dr. and he said when you get tghtened due to stress it can take a long time for it to loosen up again. For me, it was about 10 weeks before I could really eat again. I had felt very little restriction prior to my sickness, it was the stress that caused the tightening. I hope this helps some. I know it is different circumstances but being far from home would be stressful, even if it was for a vacation.

If things get bad, specifically with your blood sugar, I would definitely seek out a medic/hospital. I hope you have a nice time on your trip and can get some enjoyment out of it.

I have some Bruges with me and that makes sense ! It's an anti inflammatory duhhhh should have worked that out for myself. But it takes the veterans and friends on the site to help, thanks for taking the time to reply all.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
