I had some IBS symptoms as well, and in the 4 months since surgery have not experienced them either. I think it is due to the total change in eating habits. Eating a lot healthier! Glad to hear things are better!

I would of sold a kidney to be free of my IBS symptoms.. I feel like I got a great deal 2 for 1. Buy a band to help me lose weight as an extra cure myself of horrible symptoms... Happy days

That is great news! Makes sense the whole digestive track would be so much happier with the healthy changes and being able to pay attention to the body's signals, not forcing it to deal with more than it should do, etc. One thing about this long wait to a surgery date is that I'm actually really looking forward to the pre-op diet for all those cleansing properties.

I never brought it up but yes my IBS is gone as well. I had to constantly be by a bathroom and I was afraid to eat anything for fear of instant diarrhea. I had the problem for years but since the surgery I have not had any problems. I thought it was just me. I'm glad to see other people have had their quality of life improved like mine has. I am 8 months post op.

Zing: I suffered from IBS for too long. After LapBand surgery it disappeared! Amen to that feeling.

It was horrible for me because sometimes I wouldn't go out to dinner because of my symptoms.

I was totally trapped by my symptoms too. I couldn't walk my daughter to school, do the grocery shopping (unless there was a bathroom) it was a living nightmare. As much as losing weight is improving my life... This is by far the greater reward.....

Mine came back yesterday as well. We were leaving a restaurant when I told my boyfriend to wait for me. I was in the bathroom 25 minutes. I was doing so good too. This is the first episode I've had in 8 months. I'm thinking that my digestive tract is readjusting because I've been doing great until yesterday. Wishing you well.

I've put mine down to possibly two things.. bread was always a consistent trigger for me..not had bread but granola, so maybe its wheat. I've been eating that..or as my hormones are back working wondered if my adhesions from my numerous pregnancy surgeries have been aggravated.. Just dont know. Wish I did. Whatever it was id dodge it like the plague.

Are you considering a gluten free diet? Celiac Disease is caused when certain people eat wheat. My boyfriend is on a gluten free diet. I had a veggie stuffed crepe with cheese and I'm thinking the crepe may have triggered my attack. I hadn't had any type of crepe in well over a year. So, I'm going to try and avoid wheat products myself.

I have very few wheat products in my diet so wheat free shouldnt be a problem.. Strange thing Pasta doesnt have a dodgy effect on me.. I wa tested for coeliac disease negative result but hadn't eaten any wheat products in ages... Thanks for the message.. Going to give it some thought. Hope your feeling better.. One good thing is my episode only lasted 24h. Its lasted weeks in the past

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
