Another silly question. chocolate ifs my favorite flavor EVERYTHING. I have heard some say it won't be after surgery. Have you found your taste has changed? Should I be saying good bye to my chocolate?

Don't presume anything right now. If you love chocolate, you likely will afterwards as well. What you should be able to do is have a taste of it and feel satisfied rather than go crazy. Yes, some of us find we lose our taste for certain things but it's usually something that's really no good for anyone...like greasy, fatty processed fast food. chocolate is a wonderful flavor and you shouldn't mourn the loss of anything until you have to...if ever.

One example I can give you is chinese food. I used to eat it alot. Boy did I love an eggroll and lo mein and all of it. Well...now I almost never eat it. Why? Because it's so laden with sodium that I don't want to eat it. It's just not worth it to me. So...I have homemade teryaki chicken once in a while with packaged fried rice...1/4 cup only by the way. This way I get my craving for the taste with minimal damage.

If you are compliant and follow the rules, you learn to make good choices and not being hungry all the time makes it possible. Good luck!

Well...if you want to see the scale move consistently, you may want to back up off the chocolate until you get near goal weight and then you can have little splurges.

I will warn you don't open up that gate until you are at or near goal, sliders, and junk can get REALLY addictive to lap banders since they are easy to eat and slide down, but full of calories.

Many people who are at or near goal eat sweets, and candy weekly, but they are probably skinny enough to exercise it off, and probably offset the treats with healthy meals, aka...you can't eat tiny bites of junk like spaghetti, raveoli, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, pizza, and then eat tiny bites of sweets and junk and expect the scale to move.

Many people eat baked chicken, tuna, eggs, broccoli, spinach, and then may have a treat every now and then and it may not affect their weight loss.

Good luck.

I crave chocolate as well. Last night I had 3 small bites of a chocolate cake. I felt a little guilty but glad I did not eat the whole thing. I am 4 weeks post op and on regular good. My dr says I need to increase calorie intake because I not eating enough. I am thinking in the future a few frozen kisses would kill the craving.

I'm a chips girl. I. LOVE. THEM. Still do after being banded but everything is okay in moderation. Treat yourself to a hershey kiss every night if you have reached your goals. The 25 cals or whatever they are won't derail you. You have to still be you and still enjoy the things you like to stay on this lifestyle. I work hard on my diet all week, then I allow myself some chips on the weekend and count them in my calorie goal on myfitnesspal.com and it all works out.

Good Luck!!

Say what???? ahah No way I'm giving up my chocolate lol

Actually the only time I've lost interest in foods is when they cause stucks readily. The negative feedback isn't worth it so I avoid those foods and now have no desire for them.

Some people avoid chocolate afterwards because it upsets their stomachs when it didn't before. But the craving for sweet, salt etc doesn't go away just because you have a band. Some people have moved more towards raw/natural eating and this transition lends to less sweet eating and therefore they lose their taste for it.

The key is no matter what, you will be able to have occassional treats. Key is to moderation and not over indulge. Chocolate is a tricky beast beacuse it's a slider and you can eat heaps of it on the band. Slippery slope as they say.

I used to like some sweets I was never a huge sweetaholic but did I ever like my carbs! Since being banded in May I have not eaten any sweets or carbs my taste buds have changed drastically!!! I do not crave any sweets, breads, chips, beef or any previously eaten foods that I used to devour. Good luck on your journey lets hope we all meet our goal!

I still love chocolate, however, I can be satisfied with just a taste whereas I could eat a lot of chocolate.

I'll never lose my taste for chocolate but portion wise it's gotten a whole lot better.

Whenever I crave chocolate, I get David's chocolate toasted almonds. They aren't dipped in chocolate, just toasted with cocoa powder on them.

My taste buds have changed. I used to love ice cream it was always my go to stress food. I have tried to eat it twice since surgery Aug 6 th and it tastes bad. I never thought I would say that but it does.

chocolate is good, but I have only had it once. No problems. I just am trying to avoid going down that path. Spaghetti is a food that I no longer have a craving for, even with whole grain Pasta. It is not the same to me now that I chew everything to death. Even still, it is a small price to pay.

i am ok with chocolate (prefer coors light myself) but i do enjoy a chocolate Protein shake every day.....cures my sweet/chocolate..

having a lap band wont stop you from eating

it will help you control how much

3500 calories is a pound ate or drank

WLS or not...

you will do fine......want chocolate or whatever....have some

food is meant to be enjoyed....so enjoy it...you are not on a diet anymore.

chocolate was a binge food for me. Never met a chocolate I did not like. After surgery I only eat chocolate that is on something like a Protein Bar I purchase from my surgeon's office and this still can be an issue. Some one sent me the following today on my face book. Hope I can remember it. Chocolate is from the Cocoa tree. Tree is a plant, thus Chocolate is salad.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
