Restriction

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't worry about what other bandsters have in their bands. If 3cc is working for you, then that's all that matters. i have no Fluid in my band and I'm one of those lucky few who had restriction with no fills.

I finally got good restriction at 8.5 cc's so it's just different for everyone ... no 2 bands or 2 people are the same.

When I first had 3cc it felt good but that restriction dissipated by 6 weeks and had to go for more fills. I'm at 6 and feeling good and could probably use another 0.1-0..5cc Its highly individualized.

I have 2.5 cc and feel pretty good. I think I'm in the green zone. I'm only eating about a cup of food at time and that is keeping me full until my next meal.

I relate to "go walking " I have only had one small fill and averaging 4.5 pound loss a week and not hungry. Every time I go for follow up my dr. Says no fill needed. He actually says the amount of weight loss I have had in short period of time is more like what they see in G Bypass not lapband. So I'm very satisfied. Everyone is soooo different.

I've had 8 adjustments and have no idea how many cc's are in my band and I'm in the green zone!

Ask your Doctor how many cc's are in your band. He/She will definitely know. I have kept notes throughout my entire Lap Band journey on my iPhone and every time I get a fill I record my weight and how many cc's the doc put in or take and how I feel with that amount in my band (restriction wise). It's a good idea to record as much as possible when dealing with the Lap Band I have found.

I came outta surgery w/3cc's and around the 3rd week once the internal swelling and gas subsided i was able to eat jst abt anything.

I got my 1st fill 11days ago, bringing me to 4cc's, while I was once able to finish an entire can of pringles during a single television show #ultimatecouchpotato im not able to do this anymore.

Maybe as the days progress my appetite will return although i earnestly pray that it doesnt.

Im gonna try the no carb, 4oz meal, 3x a day the clinic reccomends in the meantime.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
