Will i ever lose weight

I had surgery for the lap band three months ago and have 2.5 mls of Fluid in my band so far I haven't lost any weight post surgery, is this normal, at was stage during the fill process did you start losing weight?

to lose weight, you must not eat more calories than you can burn off...

weight loss surgery or not........are you eating good food in your allotted amounts??

are you exercising??......

Hi there, don't lose heart the first unrestricted bit Soooo hard. I didn't eat much for the first 2 wks post surgery. I wasn't hungry so swollen.. And secondly terrified something got stuck..lol. When I progressed on to eating I did weight watchers diet roughly.. I also do the 20/20/20 rule. Use baby fork. Chew at least 20 times. Wait for count of 20 seconds before next mouthful. Never eat longer than 20 mins. I was also told nothing to drink 30 mins before or after... You'll get there. Xx

The first 6-8 weeks is a healing time not a losing time. After that the real work begins and it is very hard to learn and need way of life. The key I found for me is track every sip and bite, and get on the chat site several times a day. Drink tons of Water I mean 80 oz flood yourself. This is a diet like any other but the band helps to feel satisfied for a longer period of time. If you are hungry before 4 hours of eat one cup of food then you need a fill, or more water, and review you food tracker and find where you could change. excerise just a little at a time. This is hard work but so worth it...

Carolina is right. There's more to this than just having surgery and getting fills. I would say it is NOT normal/average to have lost 0 lbs post surgery three months after surgery. Eating healthy and exercising moderately usually yields a 1-2 lb/week loss without the lapband.

So we need to investigate what you are eating, how many calories do you consume, do you exercise and what type? What does your average daily menu look like, are you getting min. 60g Protein in? This may be the crux of the problem.

It is essential in the beginning to create a foundation of strong eating habits so it becomes easier and more manageable when your fills finally kick in.

I was banded February 25th of 2013. I was 221 and now Im 204 but I can't seem to lose any more weight than that.

I lost 11 lbs the first two weeks post op and I have had 4 fills and still have only lost 6lbs since. I'm getting super depressed that all this money and surgery just wasn't worth it. I can eat with no filling of restriction and I have never thrown up or felt truly full after I have ate.

My doctor said he doesn't keep track of how full my band is at each feel he just goes by wether or not I can drink a bottle of Water before I leave, so I have no idea how many cc's I'm at. I do know my band holds 14cc's. I just wish something would give, I journal my food and am an active person, I may not always make great food choices but i just feel like i should have a better weight loss than this. Feeling frustrated :-(

When I was at your point, I GAINED weight untill after my 2nd fill, and my first was 4cc's...., 2nd was an additional 2cc's...had 3 fills altogether in a 4 month period, none needed since.

I reached my goal with 12-13 months, and continued to loose afterward untill my body settled out at it's normal state...equalized.

I wqs overweight - Obese because I ate too much....the band, after being properly adjusted deprives me of overeating...thus I eat way less than what I used to, = Calories in...plus I exercise almost everyday burning off some of the calories I took in, forcing me to burn stored fat in the process....

Every diet in the world is nothing more than getting one to eat less, and eat healthy in the process....I was unable to eat less on my own...so I needed WLS to FORCE me to eat less....I could get a un-fill and eat more, but then that would defeat the purpose....

I'm sorry you're struggling. It's hard because a big misconception is that less food always means less calories but that isn't always true. So, even if you do have adequate Fluid in your band, there's no guarantee you'll lose just by eating less.

You said you journal your food (which is awesome, btw). Do you also track the calories for the food you journal?

Have you seen a nutritionist yet? And if so, how many calories a day they suggest you eat?

Weight loss really boils down to simple math- when you burn more calories than you consume, you lose weight. The trick is making sure you do that and tracking calories is the easiest way to make sure that happens.

Thanks for you advice, I'm working very closely with my nutritionist in developing a diet, so far so good I am eating using the 20/20/20 rule and often find it hard to consume 200ml of food. I find time to exercise with university and work hard but I try to get in a few hours a week. I average 60g Protein a day.

A few of my friends have had the band and have said to me that I may not see a difference till I have over 5mls in the band

I suppose that I haven't given it the time to work yet I mean I has only been 10 weeks.. I also suppose everyone asks themselves this question

Most my diet consumed is salads and vegetables, with the occasional meat, I have stopped eating cakes and cheese and that sort of thing as it gets stuck

Hmmm, I've only had one fill but my doc removed the Fluid to check and see how much was there then reinjected it with new Fluid. Just seems right. Therefore she knew exactly how much I had in there. How else would you know if your port was leaking or not?

Most my diet consumed is salads and vegetables, with the occasional meat, I have stopped eating cakes and cheese and that sort of thing as it gets stuck

If you are eating mostly salads and vegetables, chances are you may not be getting as much Protein as you think you are. Are you eating your Proteins with your vegetables? BTW cheese is a Protein. If you have problems with it getting stuck, have you tried the string cheese?

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
