Protein Drinks

Recommended Posts

I'm aware we are NOT supposed to drink our calories, but every now-and-then I still replace a meal with a Protein Shake. Am I cheating myself (and the band)??

I agree with Steph04, I have one in the morning for Breakfast as I'm generally not hungry. If I don't, then I don't meet my Protein goals. My nutritionist is ok with it too!

I hope not too, because that was what I was planning on doing once I got banded.

Nope. I have a Protein Shake every morning for breakfast and after every workout. If I have a long bike ride in the evening that shake after will be my dinner. I don’t depend on them but I do use them for convenience and to make sure I keep my Protein intake up, especially when I don’t feel like eating food.< /span>

MY Dr told Me to take in a minimum of 90 Grams of Protein each day! I USE Protein powder with my NUTRIBULLET with Veggies & fruit with The Protein Powder. I know I was previously not getting 30-40 grams a day & The Dr told me to step it up to loose weight. It has not helped at all!

I have a scoop of Protein powder in Water every day to boost my protein and get my hair to stop falling out. I'm sure a Protein Drink is absolutely fine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
