deeberry 9 Posted September 14, 2013 Good morning guys! I was wondering if I could eat actual food for breakfast instead of having a Protein shake? My doctor says no food in the mornings..not sure if anyone else has been told this? My doc tells to have a Protein Shake in the mourning then have my Breakfast but you can eat in the mourning if you want then have a shake for a snack later in the day 1 Terry Poperszky reacted to this
dawalsh 919 Posted September 14, 2013 That's funny because my nurse encourages cream of wheat and egg whites (not whole eggs) Anyway, if you're worried about carbs I would be no help. This is a different breakfast idea however I just had the most incredible curry ginger cous cous with a slice of melted Swiss cheese on top. It was under 300 calories and delicious. blondegal_ 1,028 Posted September 14, 2013 Hi there' date=' you might want to check out buckwheat if you like hot "cereal" (it is technically not a grain though it seems like one, it's actually a berry!) -- and it's a complete Protein. Also quinoa, though I haven't found a way that I really like it, it is worth exploring for its Protein content,a high Fiber, etc. I am prebrand but collecting ideas -- thanks for putting this thread out there![/quote'] Quinoa needs to be rinsed thoroughly before cooking. Then lightly toast it in a warm pan before adding liquid. When it smells nutty add the liquid. If I'm going to use it for breakfast I use Water if I was it savory I use veggie stock. I use it in place of rice in lots of recipes. 1 n2win reacted to this
Terry Poperszky 2,784 Posted September 14, 2013 Eating solids before I am up for a couple of hours is a sure way to get stuck. My morning breakfast consists of a Protein smoothie with what ever fruits and vegetables I happen to have on hand.
Jen G 3 Posted September 14, 2013 I really miss breakfast. If I eat solids in the morning they will be coming right back up midday.

donna450 130 Posted September 15, 2013 Never Been told that ever I've never been told not to eat breakfast but to eat what you can tolerate...anything....within reason..carbs considered. Shouldn't be over 300-350 cals. Right now I'm on mushies for the next 3 weeks. Tried to eat "reg" food but didn't chew it up good enough and up it came. So I have a banana strawberry w/pro pdw ice and Water. Very good. But doesnt quite fill me up. Figuring out what I can have mushie style for breakfast so it stays down. Any other suggestions????? Soxking 25 Posted September 15, 2013 I've tried experimenting with this recipe - the basic one is great, but substituting swiss for jack cheese and corn muffin mix for the flour works well too. High Protein, low carb, portable (which is a big plus) and very tasty. I can't claim the recipe but found it here: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Egg-and-Cheese-Puffs/Detail.aspx?evt19=
Fit4Me 83 Posted September 16, 2013 Good morning guys! I was wondering if I could eat actual food for breakfast instead of having a Protein shake? My doctor says no food in the mornings..not sure if anyone else has been told this? I have not been told I could not have solid foods in the morning but my stomach wont allow it anymore. I usually have to drink warm tea or coffee, then about an hour later, I can eat solid foods. 1 An9ela reacted to this
