first fill and down 30 lbs!

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill today - 4 ccs. The actual fill wasn't painful, but finding my port was pretty bad. She really pushed and prodded for a good 5 minutes. She had me reposition myself a few times over the roll pillow, do belly laughs, push my stomach out, and lift my head off of the table to try and push the port closer to the surface. I started to get really worried that something bad happened. She said it was ok, but the port was deeper than she expected. At least I know what to expect next time.

I'm now down 30 lbs since my pre-op diet (started mid-July). WOW!! So proud of myself :)

I bet you are, well done.

I am due to you for my first visit and possible band fill in a couple of weeks. I had my surgery on 15th August. The surgeon placed a small band in and gave me 4cc during my op.

Im finding that i am able to eat more now and starting to feel hungry particularly when i am due for my evening meal. But feeling really good now.

I am feeing a bit anxious about my first fill though.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
