5 day POUCH TEST

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have a friend of a friend...lol ... both banded 6 yrs ago. One has been very successful & the other, not so much.

During a conversation she mentioned wishing she could get back to eating the way she did after first being banded.

I'm a newbie, but remembered reading about this and so I suggested she try the 5 day Pouch Test; neither had a clue what I was talking about!

I finally found the link and looked it over, as well as posts on this site, so I guess my question is:

DOES SHE NEED TO PURCHASE THE BOOK?

(-or does this pretty much sum it up-)

They don't need to purchase the book they just can look up pre op or post op or even the 5 day pouch test like you did and start from there if they REALLY WANT to try again it will get them back on track as we bandsters shoud know by now or for the new ones they can do research as you did before starting this journey about getting the band and what Doctor so sometimes I just go back and read my papers to see if someone ask why I don't eat that much and how come I drink so much Water lol and I show them then they say WOW that's not much and ask me if I get full and I tell them most of the tie as the water keeps me full and I don't take but maybe a couple of SMALLl sips if I can after I eat.

No need to buy the book. Here's a link on it' date=' too: http://5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html

Ok, so on this site she says to chew well & eat fast because you only have 15 mins per meal.... is this correct?... is it safe?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
