Ok so I start my pre op diet in about 2 weeks. I know I will be able to eat again but not for a while and then much more carefully. So anyhow. I have a bucket list for the next 2 weeks. It isn't crazy just some of my favorite foods I plan to make for dinners. For example tacos are my favorite and I love hard corn shells. pizza with artichokes, sausage and mushrooms (deep dish), my home made chicken strips and a few other things. Nothing crazy just stuff I know I will miss for a little while. I figure I don't plan to eat anymore than I normally would just make a few of my favorite dishes before the journey truly begins. I am both excited and apprehensive. Diets do not work for me this is why I need help. I can do three weeks. Have to keep my eye on the prize.

enjoy the pizza. after banding you will not have deep dish pizza again. lol The rest of that you can have once you are back on solids if you choose to. Just a much smaller portion.

I remember a friend of mine and I were getting banded close together and we had what we termed our "Farewell to food" tour.

A banded friend of mine is a caterer and created this stuff she calls pizza dip. She makes that and we eat it with pita chips. Not exactly pizza but close enough for once a quarter to make you not feel deprived.

Helli,

Congrats on your decision to get the band. Enjoy your 'last meals' lol. One day you'll be able to incorporate some of those foods back into your diet, some will be modified and some you just won't be interested in anymore. Welcome to your new life! :)

But for some reason I can't stand artichokes anymore, and they were one of my favorite foods pre op.. ButI still love tacos!!! Though now I sorta pick them apart as I eat them rather than taking giant bites.

Anyway, enjoy your last meals!!! Look forward to seeing you on the other side!!

I still enjoy pizza toppings (cheese, pepperoni, sausage, mushroom and onion)...the crust is a definite no-go. I can only eat the top of 1 slice, but it's better than nothing.

I also have a bucket list, but it's all the things I plan to do AFTER I have reached my goal weight: white Water rapids, zip lining, buy a pair of those $125 jeans at the mall, ride the roller coaster at Six Flags.....I'm so excited I can't wait!!! LOL

I made beef Wellington this past Sunday for my guy friend and I just ate a little piece of the meat. I must admit I missed eating the yummy puff pastry and other goodies that are on it, but well worth it. pizza was my big last food, my guy friend took me to my favorite pizza place Flying Pie, and it was darn good! Good luck to you!

I remember my bucket list. I am 4 month post op and I am slowing added new foods into my healthy lifestyle! Just remember to chew chew chew and chew. I had a thin crust pizza with the works the other day and I just chew chew chew and chew. Also I went running the following morning to burn it off. Anyway have at with your "food funeral" and see you on the other side!

you will find (i speak for me)...but now that i am banded, those (foods/things) i thought i'd miss, crave, i actually dont......losing weight/inches is much better than anything (tastes).....

and fyi, if i want something, i eat it...i dont do without..i just let the band do its job with controlling the quantity..while i control the quality.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
