Sometimes restaurants put a bowl on the table and I do over eat it. At the movies with my grandsons, really over ate it. I try not to eat it. I use to eat a massive amount almost every night and since the band last night was the first time I made some for my husband. I had about 1 cup. That was great for me. I have an old time Whirley popcorn maker and it comes out so good.

I eat the delicious buttery flavored whenever I crave it which isn't often and have not had a problem with it going down.

I used to be able to eat popcorn with no problems at all but over the last month it is causing me huge issues. The last time I ate popcorn it sat above the band for days and caused severe swelling to the point I couldn't keep anything down. I had .5cc saline removed and doctor told me stay on liquids until I felt better. It took 5 days before I could start on mushies. I love popcorn but for now it is on my no no list.

Big bags of Skinny Pop come home from costco with me each week. I budget for and eat one serving each night. No issues at all.

popcorn is a "slider" which only means you may be able to eat WAY too much of it without getting restriction signals or being able to stop, and it really doesn't have any health benefits. That being said, I have been able to eat some in moderation (like a handful with my kids at movies) and it hasn't been a problem.

Crap. I guess I don't understand what makes something a slider. What else is sliderfoods. Pecans! Omg. can u give me more examples. I thought just ice cream and fried foods!

Oh yeah, popcorn is a definite slider for me. I make it the old fashioned way - in a dutch oven, using olive oil and a touch of sea salt. It's not very many calories that way. I still buy microwave for my daughter and her friends, but the old school just tastes better to me.

Im still preop but my surgeon's office said no regular popcorn after the band due to the kernels possibly accumulating above the pouch (like the little flaky kernel stuff inside each piece). This was sad for me because I love love love popcorn!

I was a daily popcorn eater my whole life, long before microwaves. When I started the process to get a band I cut popcorn out because I figured I would never have it again. I'm 6 wks postop. I really want to have popcorn but I'm still on soft foods. I hope one day I can have it in moderation, fingers crossed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
