A Over eating question

Recommended Posts

With the Lapband when we over eat do we feel discomfort or pain at all?

Sometimes when I eat and its probably a little more then I should I just feel "normal' no discomfort at all.

Afraid of stretching...

Is that normal

It depends on your anatomy and how tight your band is. But, it's important to remember the band's job isn't to physically stop you from eating and if you're eating until you feel full you're likely eating too much.

The band is meant to allow you to feel satisfied on much less food for a much longer period of time. If you listen to your body and the band, it'll tell you when you're no longer hungry but it won't act like your food police. It's your job to stick to band size portions and not over eat.

Best wishes.

Apparently your band is not "too tight" pouch dilation really don't happen UNLESS your band is too tight, also even if your band was too tight, stretching the pouch does not happen immediately, it takes about 6-12 months before any damage happens.

Pouch dilation is tricky, it usually happens IF the band is restricted in the tight green zone to red zone if you constantly eat over 4 oz per meal and vomit frequently, actually vomiting and purging your food is what you need to be worried about, more than eating a bit too much.

When pouch dilation occurs, two things happen, you will either be tighter than usual or looser and can eat more food, and the CLASSIC sign of pouch dilation is any new reflux, especially at night, reflux can be a lap band killer, but can be controlled by unfilling the band or taking PPi's, but reflux often indicates that the band has been damaged to some degree.

Ok thank you guys!

I probably should just change what I'm eating because if I sit and think about it a lot of it is slider food.. Because when I eat chicken or eggs I notice I have to be more careful or ill get stuck. where if its mash potatoes etc I don't get stuck so I eat faster :( still learning.. Maybe I'm in my green but gettin around it with sliders? Yikes been at the same number for a few weeks is getting frustrating

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
