I had my surgery yesterday and so far the pain hasn't been too bad (minus the awful shoulder pain but that's subsiding) however, I'm starting to get pain on my left side, where I have 3 incisions. Is it the incisions that hurt, or is it gas in my stomach?

It sounds like the port site. My port is on the left under my breast and under the main incision there. The port is stitched into your muscle under your skin and it takes a while for the pain and uncomfortableness to heal. I'm 3 weeks post op and still get a kind of yanking sensation from the port. It's all part of the healing process don't worry it will all pass in the next few days xxx

Yes that is most likely your port which can remain tender for some time. Make sure if you need to cough to hold a pillow to your tummy tight as it will help with pain. Also, using some ice across your tummy for 20 minutes on/20 minutes off can really help with that port pain. I'm pretty sure I overdid it yesterday and icing felt so good. Now to get rid of this horrible bloat and the feel of my entire abdomen being swollen.

Hope your doing well!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
