mommyoftwins 0 Posted August 30, 2013 Hello all. I'm new to this site. I'm having my surgery on Tuesday October 1st & I'm beyond ecstatic! My question is: Do you think I'll be able to go back to work by Monday the 7th & be ok? I'm a teacher & I'm a bit worried. Thanks!
dylanmiles23 2,198 Posted August 30, 2013 Congratulations on getting the band and starting a new journey. As far as going to work so soon, it depends on your doctor and how well you heal. Ask your doctor is the best advice. 1 mommyoftwins reacted to this
PuraVida37 715 Posted August 30, 2013 i am in the same boat, a week ahead of you. I'm really scared about missing potentially a week of school. Right now I'm scheduled for a Monday, but I'm hoping the doc can fit me in on the Friday before so I have the weekend. What level do you teach? I'm HS and the week I chose was Homecoming, and everyone knows the kids don't pay attention that week anyway. ha ha My doc seems to think 4-5 days recovery is all I will need. I hope he is right!!! Janiece 64 Posted August 31, 2013 I was 25 when I was banded. I have a desk job and took 2 weeks off. I probably could've gone back after 1 week, but the 2nd week was still a bit rough. I got tired very easily, I was gassy,,. grumpy from liquids/mushies and just generally uncomfortable. Do you have the option to take 2 weeks then come back early if you're up to it? That way you're not rushed if you're not ready.
mommyoftwins 0 Posted August 31, 2013 I teach elem special ed. I can take longer if needed, but if I go past 6 days I'll have to take family/medical leave & I'd rather not (if possible).
Red bird 20 Posted September 1, 2013 I had surgery on a Friday and went to work on Monday. It was a bad decision. Everyone heals differently but they are not joking when they say you need to allow your body to heal. I did not start feeling better for a week. Take the time if you can.
