I was banded 19 Aug. I am 5'1" and I weighed 276 lbs. before the 2-week pre-surgical diet. The hospital scale read my weight as 258 lbs. on 19 Aug. Yahoo! Lost much more than I thought I would. Thankfully, my surgery was uneventful and my recovery, so far has been textbook. I'm feeling great, back to work and have a little more energy. I'm following the instructions from my Dr. and his Dietician to the letter. I know that has helped me to not have any problems. I do wait until my stomach actually growls before I eat. I'm trying to distinguish the difference between head hunger and real hunger. Still, I don't overeat. I follow the rules and am comfortable. The reason I had this surgery is I have hepatitis & a fatty liver, so the fat has to go before I do more damage to my liver or come down with a nasty liver disease, of which there are a few. My goal weight is 120-130 lbs. Wow, I didn't mean to run on so. I love my band and I'm happy for each one of us Aug 2013 bandsters. We've made the right decision. Now I just have to figure out how to get my pics uploaded.

How is everyone going? I have been eating very well and walking on the treadmill everyday. I've promised myself I won't get on the scales until Monday (which is a big deal for me.. I usually jump on once a day) and I'm hoping to see a small change in my numbers after staying the same the last two weeks and getting my first fill last Thursday.

I've had no weight loss at all in the week and a half since I moved to mushies. It's pretty frustrating, especially when I'm not allowed my usual diet "staples" like grilled chicken and salad. I'm going to keep trying to up the Protein and Water and work on getting more exercise, and just keep waiting for the number on the scale to move! In a positive direction!

I would bet that you are still losing inches. I like to see the scale move too. It will catch up but the plateaus are frustrating.

It is disheartening because you want to see some reward for your hard work!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
