Proactive Approach to Loose Skin

Recommended Posts

I am just beginning to lose the weight and want to try to AVOID my skin getting overly loose. I know it will loosen some, but can it be lessened if I start now? What have you found that helps? Hydration? Creams, scrubs, lotions? Wraps? Weight training? Massages? Trying to put together a regimen now and get it started. TIA!

The only that helps even a little is weight strengthening. But even then, there's no guarantee you won't have loose skin..

Whether or not you have excess is decided by a lot of factors. Genetics, age, how long you've been overweight and how overweight you are, hydration, whether or not you smoke, and even where you carry the weight. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, if you're going to have excess skin there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it.

My plastic surgeon said take massive doses of E and I have to say most of my stretch marks are gone and some of the skin has tightened up. But I still will have to have surgery to pull up my tummy and the excess on my arms and lift my boobs! But it is better than I thought it would be. I want to lose 50 more before I have any surgery done.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
