Dust myself off and try again....

Recommended Posts

So I was banded April 25, 2012 weighing in at my highest EVER 325lbs within the first 3 months I've manage to lose 40lbs got down to 285lbs. So from July 2012 until now I've only lost 12lbs :( It's time to get back on track . And I'm determine to do what it take to be one of the people who've found success in this. So like the late Aaliyah said "If at first you don't succeed dust yourself off and try again".....and I'm going to do just that, try again.

You've maintained the weight you lost, and that's a great thing, and managed to continue losing. Good luck picking up the pace again, and be proud of your accomplishment to date!

It's never too late to get back on track with the band as long as you are doing the following:

1. Are you getting your fills?, do you have adequate restriction?

2. Are you getting some exercise in? Daily walks, lifting weights, aerobics

3. Are you counting your calories and getting no more than 1200 calories per day, ideally between 700-1000 on my days for best weight loss.

3. Are you staying away from junk?

4. Are most of your meals lean Proteins and green veggies?

If you answered no to most of the questions honestly, then you can dust off and start over.

Good luck!

Good for you! Pull up your big girl panties, dust yourself off, you can do it! As jessiquoi said, you haven't gained, so you need to get back to the losing mode!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
