I have had a cough for the last 2 weeks that doesn't seem to go away. I had my last fill 3 weeks ago and I do not experience any heart burn or reflux and I can easily eat the recommended amount of food. The cough is worse at night and can happen 4-5 times during the day. Any feedback would be appreciated.

This symptom is too generic and requires testing/assessment from your doctor.

It is important we all remember to not filter our symptoms exclusively through the band. We are still inclined to get common colds, flus, diseases and disorders alike that have nothing to do w/ getting the band

A cough with the band, that is not related to a cold, indicates reflux, and a cough can eventually lead to aspirating food into your lungs.

You need to talk to your lap band surgeon about your cough. A consistent cough also is a early sign of reflux and pouch dilation.

I am not a doctor, but I am just sharing what I've learned and seen others have/or experienced in the last 8 years with my band.

Good luck

It can also mean you have maybe a nasel drip that is noticable more at night because you are lying down. Remember the opening to your stomach isnt what it was. Talk to your doctor.

When i got my second fill yesterday, my dr told me specifically to let him know right away if I started coughing at night, it's a possible sign of reflux. You should call your dr. Even if its just post-nasal drip, it's better to get it checked out.

I too also got told by my doc to let them know if I develop a nighttime cough as it can be a sign of reflux!
