No fill since Sept 12...can't keep anything down now

Recommended Posts

I have lost my goal of 100 lbs, actually 105, but I have not been able to keep ANYTHING down since last Thursday night. Even liquids have to be taken in extremely slowly. Last night I was craving ice cream and it came back up. I'm worried that I may have a slip. Anyone else experienced this? Or know what this may be caused by?

Are you in pain? Pain might indicate a slip. If you're just SUPER tight you may need to have some Fluid to take out. Once you're as tight as you are now it's hard to loosen up. You may be dehydrating as well. If you can keep it down you might try some liquid motrin but I would recommend calling your doc and getting a little fluid out. If you get to the point where you can't keep liquids down at all you need to call and tell them it's an emergency.

You really need to make an appointment with your surgeon ASAP. It could be a slip or it could be some other change (hormones, stress, too much salt, etc) that made your band suddenly too tight. Or, you could have a dilated pouch.

Regardless of the cause- you need to be seen by your surgeon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
