I am losing my band and I need help.

Corinna, it sounds indeed like you were advised well, and I hope you aren't too crushed to have lost your band. Sue is exactly right:

But once someone's band starts hurting them or setting them up for permanent damage or keeps them from having a normal life, IMHO it really is time to stop trying to help them "work with it" and start trying to help them deal with choosing a life-after-banding option.

Please don't be blue about this. The complication you experienced was unpleasant, but not life-threatening, and now you'll be whole and good as new. You've learned a lot about managing morbid obesity, and have lost no ground in trying this tool. You're healthy! And that's really all that matters.

I'm sorry you are faced with losing your band. I lost mine after only 8 months. I've been struggling ever since. I'm praying my insurance will cover it again. The removal was not bad at all. It was almost the same as the placement but the incisions were smaller. I wish you luck.

I hope you start to feel better soon. I added your AIM to my buddy list. Mine is MysticTaeza.

I'm glad you're safely bandless and on the road to recovery. I'm sorry for your band loss but keep up the fight with me. I'm struggling with food again but every day is a fresh start. Today I ate a banana, dried apricots and walnuts for Breakfast. I'll try to eat a solid, heathy lunch and a veggy based dinner. Maybe we can do this together?

now that you have reached your goal weight, keeping the weight off will not be as difficult. I highly doubt that you will gain all your weight back, you might not gain any back, with careful dietary planning (your metabolism might need to be worked on but thats not too difficult) and exercise.

Good luck, best wishes

In my experience, exercise is the most powerful tool ever in preventing weight gain. I think it has more value in preventing weight gain than it does in losing weight.

I hope you're better really quickly.

Corrinasue, I am fairly new to the banded world myself and have a long way to go. I just wanted to let you know that your weight loss is an inspiration to me, just as your recent struggle is an important reminder of what to watch for. Please come here and update us and vent as needed.

Hope you're back to a healthy eating pattern and appropriate weight soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
