Pre-Op diet why do I feel guilty??

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

I have 12lbs to loose before my surgery.... I still don't have a date but I'm hoping mid-September.

So, I've been doing pretty good, I've already lost 7lbs in less than a week, I've been working out every day and feel good...

I had a late brunch. I ate 2 egg whites & a couple slices of avocado. I feel so bad for eating that idk why! Normally I've been having my Protein Shake in the am and having 3oz of grilled chicken breast & a salad. I haven't cheated at all I've been super strict on myself.

Has anyone felt like this before?

Thanks :)

Don't feel guilty... do the best you can.

Just take it one day at a time.

No one is perfect but we all try. Just trying to do good will be great. I'm sure all the doctors have heard every story and they will hear more about what went wrong. Tomorrow is a new day.

I just had a cheese roll that looked so great in the store and it wasn't great but I ate the whole thing. I never should have bought it and eating it was even worse or the other way around? Tomorrow is a new day to try to be better.

Now smile and enjoy your Protein Shake in the morning.

Arlene :D

Yes, I've been there but you have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and say from now on I'll do better.

If the worse thing you did was 2 egg whites and avocado, I would say you are doing pretty darn good!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
