LoL. The only alarms you're gonna set off are the: hottie-coming-through alarms. Safe travels!

LOL I was wondering that too especially with the full body scanners, but I've been on 6 flights since the end of June with no problems at all. I do get pretty tight when flying so be prepared for that. Have fun!

I was told its easier on you to not drink or eat anything 2 hours prior to flying. The band tightens while in air do to the change of air pressure. I have not flown yet but have talked to many friends with band and they have given me the 2 hour rule. Also wait for a little while when De boarding so band can adjust. Happy travels!

Interesting!! I feel like I have so much to learn. Thank goodness for all of us sharing your knowledge and experience. I am flying for the first time next week...and i had no idea there could be an impact.

I have A metal plate in my arm I've never set off detectors. I'm flying soon also and was just banded. All good things to know.

I have flown a lot, somewhere around 15 flights since being banded in Oct last year. You will have no problems with the band as far as security is concerned. I actually had to get an MRI a couple months after being banded and I called my surgeon to check to see if there was anything metal. They said with the band I have, there is a small amount of metal but it is not magnetic. I successfully had the MRI and the band was so ripped out of me, lol.

As for getting tight after flying, my surgeon warned me about this but I never feel any difference. Since it is possible to get tighter from the pressure, my surgeon refuses to do a fill too close to flying. You don't want to end up making it too tight and you are now far away.

If you go through x ray machine at your airport like we have at Seattle your lap band will show up, you will be pulled aside and patted down and asked what those yellow squares are. Just tell them what they are and you will be sent on your way. At airports where there is now x ray you will not set off alarms.

Flying right now and went through full body scan with no problems. Also flew and was ready for lunch/dinner soon after so not overly tight. Taking it easy in soft foods for a day or so to be sure.

Safe travels!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
