3mommy 52 Posted August 23, 2013 I'm due for my first fill the week of sept 13thi was banded July 31st. I'm going to Disney sept 15th. I'm panicking that I'm going to get the fill and It will be too tight and ill be far away from home on vacation. Since I've never had a fill I'm not sure what to expect. Should I just get the full when I get back from vacation? One week won't make a difference right? I'm still doing good unfilled. I'm still losing some weight. I do feel hunger a little more but nothing like before and I still sometimes forget to eat a snack.< /p>
parisshel 1,892 Posted August 23, 2013 I'd put it off for a week; it would not make a difference in the longterm and it will give you peace of mind right now. I made the same decision prior to an overseas trip; I knew I needed a fill shortly before I was to leave on my vacation but did not want to find myself far from home, out of my insurance network, etc should my fill be too tight. So I just really paid attention during my holiday and ate "as if" I had perfect restriction. So glad I did it like this! I get my fill next Wednesday (now that I'm back home) and I actually lost a bit of weight during my month-long vacation, too! 2 kll724 and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
lisacaron 5,075 Posted August 23, 2013 My doctor's office always asks me if I plan to be away in the couple of weeks after a fill before they administer it. I would let them know you are going to be away and then go and enjoy your vacation. Don't stress about weight gain etc. Try your best to make good choices and just enjoy! That's what vacations are for. You can always get a fill when you come back. Have a great time and a safe trip! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
JACKIEO85 308 Posted August 23, 2013 the First fill @ 6 weeks is just a guideline. I too was traveling and had to wait 12 weeks for my first fill, but why stress yourself out on what is supposed to be the happiest place on Earth!...lol Enjoy your vacation, you don't want to be uncomfortable, I honestly don't think that would happen for a first fill but why take the chance It's going to take some time to get where your going with the band, another week really isn't going to make the difference. ENJOY YOUR VACATION!!!! 2 parisshel and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Toddy 758 Posted August 23, 2013 Typically the first fill won't make much of a difference in your band. However, I would put it off just for your peace of mind. One week won't make any difference in the long run. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
kll724 3,055 Posted August 23, 2013 I agree with parisshel. I would wait until after your vacation 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
NaNa 878 Posted August 23, 2013 Remember fills should not be "automatic" they should only be given when "needed" a few people never need fills, but most do. If you are still losing weight and your hunger is dimmed most of the time, it is probably a good idea that you cancel your fill until after your vacation, and then re-evaluate after you return from vacation if you truly need one. Just enjoy your vacation! You will have plenty of time to get that fill. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
GoingforGoal 1,734 Posted August 23, 2013 Most people who have overfill emergencies are typically closer to green. However, that is arbitrary, because green is very different individual to individual. So I suppose the safer thing to do is to presume even one fill can get you there. I would recommend postponing it only because my husband found himself in this very position and it was god awful. Had to drive home (3 states away) to see his doc on an emergency call on a Sunday (this is the first doc in my lifetime that I know who would do that lol). Being overfilled where you cant eat/drink is miserable. It leads to severe dehydration, overall sense of feeling sick, severe pain, frequent regurg/sliming etc. Just not worth it, blah. Have fun at Disney. The good thing is the food isnt all that enticing so hopefully you can get around eating poorly 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
3mommy 52 Posted August 23, 2013 Thank you everyone. I called and changed my appointment until the Monday after I get home. My doc office recommended this. 2 mysonsmama and JACKIEO85 reacted to this
