Help! Fills

Recommended Posts

It's been a year and a half since surgery and I had so many fills. I have only lost 30 pounds that's it..

I feel like every time I go to the doctor he really doesn't fill me correctly. Why am I not losing weight??? I eat small portions but I feel hungry all day long. I have no restrictions. I have a 8.5 fill in a 10cc realize band. If anyone has suggestions please let me know. I'm frustrated...

Weight loss boils down to simple math. When you consume less calories than you burn, you lose weight. Unless there is medical issue at hand, you're not burning more calories than you eat. If you were, you'd be losing weight.

It's your choice whether you count calories or not but the way you're doing it now isn't giving you the results you want. So, time to try something new or accept your weight loss as it is. The choice is yours.

Best wishes.

Hmmm... Look at what you said.

1. You eat small portions, and you feel hungry all day long.

2. No restriction, but you've had so many fills.

3. You don't feel like yor doctor fills you correctly.

4. You eat healthy AND exercise, and "nothing"....no results.

Seems its time to get to the green zone, because you are not there now...reading what you wrote. BUT you can get there.

I'd have a VERY serious conversation with your doctor about why you are a year and a half post op and not there yet. Maybe a fill using fluoroscopy would help? To make sure all is well with your band, placement, etc. Thats my suggestion. Best wishes...and Never, Ever give up!

His fills are always with the x rays and he keeps telling me the good thing is your not gaining. I exercise and eat small portions on my own but I am hungry all the time. I can eat but I keep myself from over eating on my own. Should I tell him to fill me more? He only does .5cc's at a time.

I need to talk with my doctor about getting to the Green Zone; gets frustrating when you feel stagnant and not progressing !

According to your surgeons profile, he has three years of experience.....

You say hes using fluoro, so hopefully you'll get there soon. It is not real uncommon to hear folks needing to get to to the higher end of "capacity" of their band....some even have more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
