I want to loose weight for my kids, and myself. I feel my family deserves a healthy me. Mainly for my 6 year old, he has began to follow my bad eating habits and is begining to become overweight, so I feel that if I can get healthy I can teach him to be healthy also. I really need someone to talk to about this and help me to understand the whole process, because where I am from no one has even heard of LapBand. So if there is anyone out there willing to :help: me PLEASE let me know, I really need it!:Banane13: By the way I just want to take a minute to say to everyone who has been brave enough to make this change in their life WAY TO GO!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: . Hello RyanJoey! Those must be your boys' names. My son's name is Ryan too! Welcome to LBT. I think you've found an excellent place to make friends and find support. There are lots of very wonderful people here at all stages of the band journey... from the early stages of finding out what the band is all about - to people who have been banded for many years and have seen great success - to people who have experienced complications and have lost their bands. It's all here - the good, the bad and the exceptional!

Check out the Reference and FAQ thread. There are some good pointers in there about the using this board and there is some awesome info on the band. Keep posting, ask lots of questions and make your presence known. You'll have PLENTY of people to talk to! :Banane13:

Welcome, Ryanjoey! I have a son Ryan, too. This is an excellent place to find information on just about any topic and LOTS of support, too. It's been such a blessing to me.

I want to commend you for realizing that you need to change your eating habits in part because they affect your childrens' habits. Sounds like you are a great mom. This is a big decision and a big change, but it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. Sometimes I get frustrated because the weight loss is slow, but I chose this route because I think it's healthier. It's just human nature to want it to happen NOW!

FAQ section is great...that will give you an overview and then you can ask specific questions you might have.

Happy mothers day!

Emily

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
