My surgeon is DR. Scott Steinberg who is located in Decatur, GA. He is an excellent surgeon/physician and I would recommend him to any one. He is young(in his early thirties), but don't let his age fool you! He is very experienced and knowledgeable. He is also really good with the followup procedure, as well. I have been banded about 71/2 months and have had 4 fills already. He is not conservative with the fills or the fill amounts. The only thing he cares about is my overall health and getting me to my goal weight.

If you are looking for a great surgeon in the Atlanta area, I recommend giving his office a call at (404) 501-7081, his assistant is named Cheryl. She can answer any questions that you may have:D

You are so nice to post about fill doc without anyone asking. You emailed this info to me a week or so ago and I haven't called yet. I certainly plan on it since it would MUCH cheaper than a plane ticket back to Monterrey!

I went to his Group Session about a week ago. I am looking forward to beginning my journey. I'm a little scared though. Any advice you can give sure would be helpful.

Thanks,

Tunisia

I had my surgery April 8, 2008. My experience with the lapband and with Dr. Steinberg has been GREAT all around. Good luck with your choice.

I have decided to definitely go with Dr. Steinberg. Thanks for the posting. I am interested in hearing how you have lost in one year and how your life has changed? Do you regret the lap band or is the best thing that has ever happened to you? I guess I will get advice from Dr. S on lapband vs gastric.

It is the best decision I've ever made in my life. I went from a size 22 and am now a size 14w in one year and I am still losing. I would do lapband vs. gastric bypass because you never use your stomach again with gastric bypass. To me it just seems so unnatural.

How long after your pre-op appt did you have to wait to get a surgery date? Im soo waiting on my date!

Not long at all. As soon as I got all the pre-op requirements done. My surgery was scheduled a week and a half later. It just depends on Dr. Steinberg's schedule and your schedule, of course.

Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
