Are there any 50 to 60 year old out there

Recommended Posts

Hi and no i didnt have to have a sleep study...I had just about everything else except a pelvic lol. Honestly? Surgery is a week from Monday' date=' and I want this soooo badly that I WILL do the work it takes. I am 58 on the outside but inside I am still in my 40's and I want to FEEL that way instead of 80. But I am scared. I know that sounds so silly for a woman my age...but I am frightened of failure more than the surgery. Does that make sense?

And I would be so glad to be friends with anyone who wants to be along this ourney. I am on my pc every night and morning....my keys stick so I hope you can forgive the typing.[/quote']

I would love to keep in touch. I am so excited for you. In one week you are on your way!

hi i am 55 and banded jan 2013. down 85 lbs and don't feel my age has hindered my weight loss. though i have had several fills and unfills and can't seem to get to the green zone. in fact i had .5 cc removed a couple months ago and .2cc put back in last month. some days i can eat and others i have problems. was at er this morning because was aspirating through the night and couldn't get fluids down so got 2 bags of iv fluids. going to see bariatric doc tomorrow and ask to have some more Fluid removed. i still have 15 pounds to reach my goal and getting very worried i am starting to have complications.

Fine, showed I had a case of kindey stones, could not get my fill ,went to get a fill the pa could not hit. My port thought she did ,but next time I went. The dr tried to check and see how much was in the band pulled nothing out so I was losing on my own , well long story. Short. I am having a lot of pain on my port side ,hartburn , sick to my stomach , dr said y band. Is not working , wants to remove it and do something else. Not sure how I feel about that , have a lot of stuck eppoiseds , think not small enough bites or not chewing enough of earthing to fast I do not know what I am doing wrong ,I eat once a day , can not eat till around 11 am , or iwellget stuck , try to drink more Water , was drinking diet snapple , or gradeaid ,trying to stay away from theses. drinks a like I said drinking water I do not know what to do, is any one from the frenso. I'm 58, and had lap band with plication surgery on 3/25/13. I'm down 42 pounds so far.

As far as it being more difficult to lose weight at this age, yes, for me it is/was. After menopause and a total hysterectomy, the weight started coming on a lot more quickly than before, and it took three times longer to lose the same pound. It felt futile. Thanks to the surgery, I've been able to put that in reverse, and I'm able to eat small amounts, while staying satisfied for much longer. Do I think that I'd be losing more quickly if I was 30? YES, I do. But I'm perfectly happy with my progress, and I'm grateful for my banded plication every single day.

Welcome to this site, and please feel free to ask me anything you'd like :)

"I am just a little older 63. With everything I have gone through the sleep study is the one I am not looking forward to."

I'm still working my way through all the pre op testing and compliance, but I have had a sleep study done, no worries. In fact, if you are tired most of the time, you may have sleep apnea, the treatment is to use a CPAP machine, I hate that thing. But it allows me to sleep through the night and I wake up feeling rested. Not going to kid you, it's not easy getting used to, but you'll feel 100% better, and you'll have another incentive to get the weight off.

I have my sleep study tonight. At this point I will do what I have to just to have the surgery. I really hope that I can get a date for surgery by next week. I am getting anxious.

Looking for people in my age group who have had lap band surgery. Just wondering if you found it harder to lose weight.

I am 58 been banded for almost six years and am a slow loser.

I do happen to like the benefits of now being able to keep up with the children, ride any ride in an amusement park, not have to take any meds, not have to use a cpap machine, not having to ask for an extension on an airplane and on and on and on.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
