:clap2: Scheduled my fill for 5/25/06.:clap2: Just wondering should I stock up on Jello and broths? Will I have to go back to liquid stage again ?Do you fast for 24 hrs prior to the fill? Will I need to take a few days from work again? Why am I scared to have the fill and was sooo excited about the surgery.:paranoid My doctor said it was quick procedure BUT he didn't say how big the needle is ?

Your first fill is always scary but it is very easy and not much pain. YES you will need to go back to a soft diet for the first couple of days but that is all. The needle is not big and something to be scared of since you barely feel it. The most uncomfortable part of it the pushing on your port area. Be brave and don't be scared.

I was really nervous about my first fill, too. My doc wants us to go back on liquids for a day, then mushies for a day, then back to regular food. So I wouldn't stock up on too much liquid stuff. The actual procedure isn't much...more than pain I felt pressure, but it's over really fast.

Good luck, and you'll look back after it's done and wonder why you were so worried!

You shouldn't need to take time off. Maybe just the day that you get your fill. It's easy! It is a little painful, but not bad. Don't look at the needle.

Fills don't hurt and if your afraid of the needle just close your eyes...thats what I do.

One of the best suggestions some one told me before surgery was not to buy to much stuff (like Jello, broth, etc) and I'm glad I didnt. Get yourself some gas-x and liquid tylenol.

Congratulations on the date and your new journey :)

Relax!! This is no more than an injection with local anaesthesia. Nothing to worry about!! No, you will NOT need to take any time off from work; I always went straight to the office from my fills. There's just a bandaid on the injection site, no residual pain or anything. Stick to liquids for the rest of the day and then take it easy with food the next day. There is no need to fast beforehand, but it's probably a good idea not to eat a couple of hours before the fill. (Mine were always first thing in the morning, so I would just not eat Breakfast.)

This is not a big deal, I promise!

I'm going for my first fill on 5/25 so I too appreciate all the feedback offered in this post.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
