TheDuchess 106 Posted August 15, 2013 I'm on military insurance, which requires the 6 months pre-op visits with my surgeon. For the first 4 months I felt so gung-ho, but terribly discouraged when I realized that every visit consisted of my blood pressure being taken, weigh in, and the surgeon talking to me for all of 5 minutes. My steam has run low, I don't feel excited or amped up like I did before, I feel like this is dragging out. Any suggestions on how to light that fire again? My tentative date for surgery is September 25th and I don't feel the least bit excited. :/ 1 Jim1967 reacted to this
GuyMontag 1,264 Posted August 15, 2013 I had something similar happen to me after I had lost my weight. I used therapy to help me get back on track and it helped tremendously. Unfortunately, weight loss isn't always riding on a high and there are many weeks or months of tedious work that is involved. It's the consistency that makes it effective and keeps the weight loss lasting. 4 Kitt3000, parisshel, TheDuchess and 1 other reacted to this
Jim1967 3,569 Posted August 15, 2013 I had to do the 6 month thing as well because of insurance. I dreaded the beginning of the process knowing I had to wait 6 months and then hope I would be approved. As I started to lose weight during that time my motivation increased big time. I did everything I could to be around bandsters whether it was being here or attending in person support meetings and various binge eating classes. I read books. I felt like I was close to a life and death situation with my weight. You are nearly there and from what I see you are off to a great start. Keep your eye on the prize and it will be here before you know it. When you get that official surgery date you will be riding high again. You can count on that. It felt like Christmas to me. 2 Kitt3000 and TheDuchess reacted to this
whittycent 4 Posted August 16, 2013 I also had to do 6 months with my insurance. I actually have my final appt tomorrow with the surgeon and will get my surgery date. I was really excited for the first few months, but then at around month 4 my excitement started waning. But now that I am in the final stretch, I have been reading a lot of blogs and other peoples experiences. Its helped going back and reading all of their experiences since so many are several years out. I see what these other people were able to accomplish and reminds me of what I want to accomplish with the band. 1 TheDuchess reacted to this
Mrs. Curtis 42 Posted August 16, 2013 I actually think that the requirement should be longer as you have to still be on top of your game after have surgery. I actually lost more weight during that 6 months than a year following surgery. Good luck and you have to find exercises you like and enjoy doing and time and weight loss will happen
