Water won't go down??

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm newly pregnant (about 4 weeks) and since I found out I haven't been able to get anything down in the morning, even Water. I usually have trouble in the morning with my band and can usually only have liquids for Breakfast, but now I'm worried that I can't even get water to go down. By around 1pm I'm usually okay and able to finally eat, but has anyone else had this problem in the morning?? I'm not sure why a baby that's the size of a sesame seed would cause such drastic changes in my band already. But I've started having mild morning sickness already and I just feel like I'm going to end up getting dehydrated. Yet if I get an unfill I'm worried that I'll gain too much weight. Ugh. I have an appointment tomorrow with my band PA and I'm just worried she'll either say I have to have all the Fluid taken out or none. Anyone else had this problem and it went away on its own?

PIl,

Hello. Speaking from having been banded and pregnant at the same time.. I would caution you to not allow your desire to maintain weight override your and baby's health.

I was fortunate that I did nto have to unfill my band during pregnancy and breastfeeding because we both gained appropriately and I did nto have any issues (increased restriction, hyperemesis etc). However, if I did, an unfill (even partial) would have been in order.

Hormones influence all of the muscles of the body and when it comes to the band it makes it tighter causing increased restriction. This happens during TOM for many woman as well. The assumption is that this will be a longterm arrangemetn for you. See about getting partial unfill so that you can at least eat/drink properly in the morning and go from there.

You could get a VERY slight unfill, like .1cc or something. Sometimes that's enough!
