Michellina's Frozen Dinners

Recommended Posts

Just curious, but do any of you bandsters like these? They are super cheap (usually $.98 at Wally World) and are small portions. They have a gourmet line, a line with the basics like mac and cheese and meatloaf, a kids line with fun shaped chicken nuggets, and a diet line that even has some low carb options. Like I said, it is small portion, but that is why I thought it would be great for bandsters. I love their lean chicken alfredo, and their lean meatloaf and mashed potatoes. And the portion is perfect with a salad.

If you haven't seen them before check them out. The quality isn't like lean cusine, but the price is worth it, and come on...its a frozen dinner. what do you expect? LOL

'Banquet' also has some pretty decent cheap meals. I try not to have TOO many frozen dinners, just because of the sodium, but sometimes easy just wins, lol.

I tend to avoid stuff like this becuase of the salt and additives, fresh food is better. But some of them are quite nice and they can make a convenient lunch.

The price puts me off though. They're 5 bucks a pop here.

well most frozen meals are $5, and some lean cuisines are topping on $6 now, but these are 98 cents usually. I agree that fresh is better. We do fresh only in this house. But I know after i am banded there are going to be times that I need to pop something in quick while preparing the rest of the family a meal. I was wondering what bandsters out there thought of them.

I have to warn you- I can't eat frozen meals when I'm really restricted. Most are noodles or rice with some Protein. They are a great sized portion- especially when you are newly banded and are getting used to the smaller sized meals.

Yeh, I can't eat the dinners either. I tried in a time crunch last week. I got a golfball on the first bite.

I really didn't need to eat it anyway, WAY more carbs and sodium than if I just made something similar ahead of time and froze it.

I try to keep some quick dinners frozen for such emergencies. Which is easy to do since I generally have 4 meals off of one "pre-band" size plate of food. There are generally LOTS of leftovers.

That is such a simple idea!! I can't believe I didn't think about that. I usually bag up and freeze spaghetti sauce and chili for quick dinners for the family. I don't know why I didn't think about doing bandster size meals like that. Thanks Kristen!!!! You rock. :D

I found some of these in my local grocery store and they aren't half bad. They aren't as good as some, but like my fiance says "calories are flavor particles".

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
