any regrets? is it harder or easier then you thought?

Recommended Posts

I have been pleasantly surprised with how easy it has been so far. I have not even been tempted to eat anything other than healthy foods. My doc said that is because I have followed the rules for healthy eating and that reduces cravings. I have had one two week plateau but once I got a fill the weight started coming off again....I have to admit it was hard at first to deal with an extended period of gas pain and pain in my left side when I ate but looking back, it was well worth it. I'm so glad to be banded !

No regrets here. I've been losing weight much faster than I ever imagined, but I don't think it's been easy. I can eat more than I thought I would be able to, and I still struggle with head hunger. I also don't know what the green zone should feel like...am i there, am i not??!! Who knows! I've been successful so far by keeping myself on track and being accountable for my own actions, as well as following the rules my doctor gave me. I have to tell myself often, that I'm the one that has to work to get this weight off...the band will help me as long as I allow it to, but the band won't lose the weight for me.

No regrets.

The lack of physical hunger makes it easier than I could have imagined.

The large role that head hunger plays has made it harder than I thought it would be.

No regrets...not one. When I made the decision yo get the band I realized nothing else was going to work for me. I knew I would have to make lifestyle changes but needed something to help me--a tool. And the band has done just that. I am lucky to have a great surgeon who has a great bariatric program with support. I am surprised that I have lost 76 pounds, as I was never able to lose more then 20 by myself. It has given me back my life by correcting prediabetes, lowering my blood pressure and my depression has disappeared! I am extremely happy with the appetite control the band provides. My band and I have a good relationship right now. I learn new things about it everyday! Actually yes, one regret----WISH I WOULD HAVE DONE IT SOONER!!

No regrets at all... I find maintenance VERY easy. I can eat ANYTHING except rice, apple skins and no carbonated beverages.

What keeps me in focused is my monthly weigh-in with my family doctor and the support groups meetings I host.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
