Lap Band & Love Life

Recommended Posts

Well after many many years of being over weight and nearly (dare I say it) begging my boyfriend to be more involved buy a ring perhaps be more romantic I fear he may turn over a new leaf after my weightloss, as SHALLOW as it all my sound!

Well, Its been 12 days since surgery and hes been nicer than ive ever seen.

He says he thinks i will leave once im thinner.

Question is, will i want him to do all these things, say 40lbs from now?

Will i be more interested or less interested?

if you love him, love him

and if he loves you, let him

remember the ring is for better or worse, sickness and health

and you being happy within is what matters

i have lost 130+ and i still want my ole man.....and him me

and he loved me 130+ heavier...love is love...not weight

if you get a ring, make sure you post the picture

What CG said! If it's true love, size doesn't matter.... Best Wishes :)

I have been married for almost 43 years and dated 4 1/2 before that. We have both been fat and thinner. He was very thin one time and it did go to his head.

True love doesn't see size, love sees the person. Ann Landers/Dear Abbey, one of them, had a saying, am I better off with them or without them. You be the judge.

Ok this is just my perspective.

I loved my ex-husband. He wasn't romantic and our marriage was very much one of friendship not passion, and I had hoped that when I lost weight, things would change.

Things changed, yes. He got more jealous of other men looking at me. But what didn't change was the way he treated me. And perhaps it wasn't fair of me to expect that, because if he had, I think I would have been equally disappointed.

In the end, I left him. Because the fact is, he couldn't win either way. If he had loved me the way I had hoped to be loved, it should have been from the first day, whatever size I was. And I realised that was not the case, but only after I lost the weight.

It's not a great story but I guess what I'm trying to say is this: your weight loss SHOULDN'T change your relationship, it should make a strong relationship stronger. If you can say that, then no, you're not going to change your mind. If you can't, then I'd say it may well break you.

In true love it is the soul that embraces the body. So if he loved you before he should love you after and the same goes for you. Hang in there!

Jealous? This guy has not 1 jealous bone in his body. Nobody wants me is probably what hes thinking.

I guess time will tell.

We once had that in common LOL

Yeah my husband was not at all jealous when I was bigger. That really changed when Iost. I didn't even know he had it in him to be that jealous. Funnily enough though, that didn't actually translate to him changing the way he treated me.

I'm glad he's treating you better and hopefully it will stay that way. In my opinion (and from my experience), if you were having problems before surgery, you will most likely have problems after the surgery. You certainly can't make people change and begging for affection will probably just leave you disappointed anyway. There is a chance that you may lose interest after your weight loss and see things more clearly. Only you will know the answer to that. Chances are, you probably already do. I know I did. Best wishes to you pretty lady.

Perhaps he's changing and treating you better, not so much because of your weigh loss, per se, but because YOU yourself are changing. Maybe you're "happier" than before and he sees that.

When your happier you give off a confidence regardless of weight and size. Confidence is a very sexy quality.. It attracts positive feelings and responses.. Maybe thats what is causing the new found interest.

I was married at 18 and pregnant! Gained 72 lbs. Three children later and 42 years of marriage he still loves me! Now I'm smaller than I was at 18! True love!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
