angel414tc 1 Posted August 13, 2013 I am having my surgery this Thursday and I have cheated so so so bad on opti fast pre op diet. I'm nervous the surgeon won't band me. I am self pay and have saved this money for many years. Can anyone help me please
gowalking 10,790 Posted August 13, 2013 Unfortunately we can't help you with this as no one can control what you do except you. The damage may already have been done. Be honest with your surgeon, explain what you did by not following the diet and see if he will reschedule the surgery so you get another opportunity to follow the diet this time and be successful. This is a better option than him opening you up and not placing the band. Good luck to you..hope all goes well. 4 stept04, DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!, n2win and 1 other reacted to this
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted August 13, 2013 Gowalking is correct. There is nothing anyone can do to help at this point. If your liver hasn't shrank sufficiently then there is a very real risk the surgeon won't complete the surgery for your own safety. I would be honest with your surgeon. If he chooses to reschedule your surgery to a later date it's still better than going into surgery and coming out with all the scars but no band. 3 stept04, n2win and lisacaron reacted to this
GuyMontag 1,264 Posted August 13, 2013 Or having your liver nicked and nearly or actually dying. 5 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!, lisacaron, stept04 and 2 others reacted to this
dawalsh 919 Posted August 14, 2013 It would be worse to go through with the surgery only to come out in the recovery room and find out your liver was too fatty for you to be banded. Be honest with your surgeon and maybe you can postpone the surgery. Good luck to you.
angel414tc 1 Posted August 17, 2013 Thanks every body for all your advice and input. I had the surgery and was totally honest with my dr. He had a very hard time and almost did not band me. Surgery took an ex tra hour and I have a few more incisions than anticipated. I am so thankful it work ed out. I know moving forward I have to be compliant. Still in a lot of pain but I know it is worth it all. Good luck to everyone and thank you again
