well....I did a happy dance....LOL! Not trying to dismiss your feelings, I know lots and lots of people who had a hard time with the chick leaving the nest. I just had a different reaction. Oh and so you know, that college kid is now 31, married, two kids, and living just about 25 miles away from me. We talk and email regularly and I see him and my daughter-in-law and their girls every couple of months. So don't worry mama...if the two of you are close, you will be close no matter what. Hang in there and good luck.

I could not get mine to stay away! She went to college 100 miles from home, and drove home very week end! She came home if she was ill, she needed mom,. She came home for Halloween, 'cause it was a favorite! I wanted her to become more involved in school, she wanted home! It was hardest when I became an empty nester! Both my kids moved from Maryland to Nebraska for school, then I felt lost. this was in the 1990's. I installed a 800# in their home to call them! HAHA!!!

I feel for you! My oldest is a 22 year-old first year teacher and still doesn't want to leave home. And I'm totally okay with it! :)

thanks everyone. well I still have my boys here, 14 and 15 and our two dogs and two cats, so I'm sure I will have plenty of excitement here.

I have been ok until today when I got home from work and she was out with friends. I walked in her room and saw all the stuff packed and just started crying..

I know she will be home often. :-)

It was a bittersweet time for us with the first at school It was so quiet! More time for the one at home at first. Then he went 100 miles away to college and it was really quiet. My hubby and I adapted. Less mess, -dishes- laundry -shopping but still I miss that time.

Now one is getting married. Another new adventure. And yes. Our food addiction cannot fill the void. Somehow we all keep going. And not yo-yo dieting. Sooo happy about that

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
