gowalking 10,790 Posted August 12, 2013 well....I did a happy dance....LOL! Not trying to dismiss your feelings, I know lots and lots of people who had a hard time with the chick leaving the nest. I just had a different reaction. Oh and so you know, that college kid is now 31, married, two kids, and living just about 25 miles away from me. We talk and email regularly and I see him and my daughter-in-law and their girls every couple of months. So don't worry mama...if the two of you are close, you will be close no matter what. Hang in there and good luck. 2 jsws91 and kll724 reacted to this

kll724 3,055 Posted August 12, 2013 I could not get mine to stay away! She went to college 100 miles from home, and drove home very week end! She came home if she was ill, she needed mom,. She came home for Halloween, 'cause it was a favorite! I wanted her to become more involved in school, she wanted home! It was hardest when I became an empty nester! Both my kids moved from Maryland to Nebraska for school, then I felt lost. this was in the 1990's. I installed a 800# in their home to call them! HAHA!!! 1 jsws91 reacted to this
KAATNS 1,473 Posted August 12, 2013 I feel for you! My oldest is a 22 year-old first year teacher and still doesn't want to leave home. And I'm totally okay with it! 2 jsws91 and catfish87 reacted to this
jsws91 153 Posted August 13, 2013 thanks everyone. well I still have my boys here, 14 and 15 and our two dogs and two cats, so I'm sure I will have plenty of excitement here. I have been ok until today when I got home from work and she was out with friends. I walked in her room and saw all the stuff packed and just started crying.. I know she will be home often. :-)

Julie norton 2,850 Posted October 2, 2013 It was a bittersweet time for us with the first at school It was so quiet! More time for the one at home at first. Then he went 100 miles away to college and it was really quiet. My hubby and I adapted. Less mess, -dishes- laundry -shopping but still I miss that time. Now one is getting married. Another new adventure. And yes. Our food addiction cannot fill the void. Somehow we all keep going. And not yo-yo dieting. Sooo happy about that
