I was banded yesterday. I have gas pains and soreness in my abdomen but I feel pretty good overall. I have no appetite. I have been forcing myself to drink Water and broth.

Dr has me on clear liquids for a week then I can add in things like pudding and yogurt and Protein shakes.

Just had my lap band surgery on the 19th in Mexico at the Obesity Control Center with

Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Martinez. I must say the experience was flawless and on day 3 , I am feeling pretty good. They picked us up at the border parking in a nice van, 5 minutes and we were to the cliinic. The Clinic was just as nice and clean as the Dr. I went to in Beverly Hills. The staff was way nicer than the place in the USA I had tried and they spoke perfect English.

They ran through my health questionairre and then rana bunch of tests like EKG, blood, blood pressure, etc. then on to surgery I went. They put me in my own room which had a bed couch and chair with tv and a table. They had relaxing music playing in the room.

I was prepped for surgery by putting on long socks for circulation, gown, hat, booties, they gave me anIV and a small shot in the stomach for cicrculation (i think). Then into surgery. They put the anesthesia in the IV and off to sleep I went. I guess the surgery did not take too long. I found myself waking up and felt panick (which they say is normal). I had a pressure in my chest which was gas and eventually went away but I felt scared and they gave me something for this. Also my back hurt. Part of this was laying flat for so long and my muscles being tense but some may have been PMS for me.

After an hour I started feeling better and was taken to my room to recooperate about one hour later I was walking to the bathroom. Walking for me was great , I feel better upright.

They wanted to keep me over night as they also repaired a hernia but I wanted to go back to the Marriot as I would feel freer and could have broth and my friend could sleep as well. So they let me go cause I felt pretty good .

That night we went to dinner at the restaurant downstairs as I wanted to walk and after rising from dinner I flt tight and uncomfortable but not horrible. I had broth and coconut Water for dinner. My friend loved her Marriot meal. LOL! i was not at all hungry and still am not on day 3.

I was very comfortable to sleep at night, no problems. I had a little insomnia from all the rest I had during the day probably. Then next morning we went down for Breakfast as my

got a free Breakfast and I had some broth. It was really good !

Then the van came to take us across the border. We did have to walk ourselves and luggage through border inspection but for me it was no big deal. Some of the other plastic surgery patients were having a bit of a bad time lifting luggage so we helped .

After a 1.5 hour ride home, a stop for pottie and advil tablets (which my doctor said I could take for my PMS headache) I was home and feeling good.

I continued on my clear liquids that night and felt fine about it. I went and picked my daughter up from school and went to the grocery store really quick to find some better broth as the one I bought was watery. I ended up buying chicken noodle and straining the juice which was yummy.

So far even my huge gel cap advil tablets went down fine and I feel good. Yes, I am sore but day 3 I am ready to walk around and tomorrow I have a party to take my child to and I can do that.

My doctor explained to me to that the newer lap bands are better and rarely slip. He said that out of 3000 he has only had one slip. The girl in the van had lap band 4 years ago and says it was a great decision. She had hers in Mexico too.

I lost 6.7 % of my body weight presurgery so that was good. i weighed this morning and weigh about the same but I am bloated from PMS and surgery. I am not worried. I feel good and tomorrow I can have yogurt drinks and shakes so I am excited.

I feel very positive and excited for the future. Hope everyone has it so good.

I was banded on 9/19 as well along with my wife. Just finally getting back to normal and starting to sleep well. The only area that still nags me a bit is my port area, but it has gone from being a constant reminder to an occasional reminder. Looking forward to Friday to start the mushy stage of food, but the liquid Protein shakes and yogurts are still being good to me.

I walked so much in the first week after the surgery I got a blister on my foot, so I a nursing that back to health now as well, but still got in 10 miles in the last 10 days.

All the best to my fellow September 13 bandsters

I am feeling much like you, pretty much back to normal but the port area still bothers me occasionally. I have a desk job so after sitting all day it will bother me a tad. I have not been walking as much as last week I did not feel like it but tomorrow I'm walking for sure. It's all gone well so far.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
