Today is my daughters baptism and I have soooo much delicious food. It's going to be hard not eating any of it lol. Hopefully people don't notice and don't notice me sneak in the house to eat some puréed stuff.

You can do this. You will so busy entertaining food will be an after thought. You will be able to have those delicious foods once you hit solids in moderation so it's not no forever just more like ill catch you later :) drink lots of Water and good luck

You know, when I was on my pre-op, I did a 50th b-day party and a Superbowl party. My friends knew what was going on. No one offered me food. No one really cares. If you want to fit in: Have a glass in one hand, and a plate in the other (just schmear some dip on it and have one carrot "left over"). When it comes to cake time, I say "I'm good, thanks." And walk away. If someone makes a big issue, I politely take the plate and hand it off to my hubby to dispose of. Keeping it in my hands for as short a time as possible for temptation purposes. So, if you can have a partner there to assist, that can be a big help.

But mostly, when I say no, people just ask if I am sure, look at me like I am crazy, and move on. Be strong, be resolute. Visualize yourself being successful. Don't hang near the food table, concentrate on the joy of the event, and being with friends and family.

Ok, so I skimmed and didn't read it is your daughters baptism..so you will be handling the food? Keep strong!! You can do this. It is a big challenge for you. Keep your contact with it minimal. The rest of what I said still holds true. The focus should be on the people, not the food.< /p>

And really, no one cares what you are consuming. Especially as hostess. You can flit and float around with no one noting if you are eating or now.

Best wishes and enjoy the day!

Good luck. You can do it. It won't be long until you can eat all those things again in moderation.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
