Just banded on August 5th- heard of a band slippage but never ever of a port revision?t

Hi everyone,

I'm 3 days out and the pain isn't that bad, except when I sleep. My question here is my doctor NEVER discussed ever needing a port revision as a side effect- is this common? How does it happen, and how do you know u need a revision? Sorry for all these questions concerning this topic, but I'm perplexed by it all. Any generous help is appreciated! :)

I believe there are many reasons for port revisions but fortunately the surgery isn't usually that bad. A port revision can be required if the port shifts or if there's a problem where it's poking through the abdomen wall. The port tubing can also get a kink in it. It's normal for the port site to be uncomfortable for a week or so after surgery. I'd recommend holding the area with your hand and applying pressure when you get up or down or if you cough. After two weeks your port area should be relatively pain free although some people still have discomfort after this time period. I wouldn't worry too much this early but definitely keep in contact with your doc's office and make them aware of your concerns. Good luck!
