I can have my first fill Sep 20th and I'm nervous. I was told by nurse I don't have to have any fill placed if I'm losing okay. So I'm hoping I won't need a fill that i'm losing just fine without but we'll see. Good luck to you all hope everything continues to go great for all.

Second fill for me on Tuesday, 9/10. I really didn't notice any difference in restriction or appetite suppression after the first fill and so its been primarily discipline and willpower working for me (and a few "reminders" from my bride!). I've continued to lose very slowly so I'm grateful for that, but I'm definitely looking forward to some assistance from the newly tightened band.

I do not feel any restricting from my fill either my band can hold 14cc and i only have 4 in there. I hungrier now so I am scared i might not lose the weight I want to this month. I go back next week to check in maybe another fill I hope so.

Well, here's the scoop on yesterday's second fill results. Yesterday was an all liquid day so it was a wash (awash - get it?) as far as testing restriction. Today was a mush day up until dinnertime. Breakfast and lunch were yogurt and cottage cheese - each a measured quarter cup. dinner was going to be scrambled eggs, but the chef made a slice of ham steak also. I gave it a try, with chewing a priority. I only needed about a quarter cup of scrambled egg and four small bites of ham before hearing that small voice of the lapband saying enough...any more and you'll be overdoing it.

I'm both surprised and pleased at the feedback that I'm getting from the band. It does speak - but its up to me to listen and obey. There used to be a series, I think on Masterpiece Theater, called "Rumpole of the Bailey", about an English lawyer who called his wife "She who must be obeyed". That is going to be adjusted slightly and my lapband will henceforth be known as:

" It Which Must Be Obeyed!"

so after my first fill I feel like I don't even have a band right now. its pretty frustrating I am just as hungry and have made some not so great choices. ughh need to get my mind on track for my body to follow...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
