PrettyThick1 1,860 Posted August 6, 2013 Well, I'm happy about my progress and I have gotten to the point that I can't put off shopping for new clothes anymore. I look like a little girl playing dress up in her mommy's clothes and I don't like it - very sloppy and unkempt, not me! It sucks that this came about during back-to-school and I have to invest so much in my daughter's clothing and supplies. Sigh. Can this be considered a down-side to down-sizing? LOL At least now I'll get to find out what size I really wear now! I wish there were thrift stores close to work... 1 Debbie3sons reacted to this

lisacaron 5,075 Posted August 6, 2013 That's great! I worry about not being able to fit in my skin! I don't mind the clothes, I have a lot of various sizes of things over the years of Yo-yo dieting and I'm grateful for that. Now I just buy things I can tailor or are adjustable. I don't want to spend any significant amount on new clothes until I am closer to my goal weight and I still have a lot to lose. I have a few friends who have lost weight, and some of them in extreme ways and their faces have just sunk I and they are so wrinkly. My husband says it's because they are lacking in nutrition and he's probably right. That was why I chose the lap band vs. the other surgeries I don't want to look like a prune Enjoy that back to school shopping and pick up a few items for Mom too!! You all deserve it! 4 Debbie3sons, PrettyThick1, Sharpie and 1 other reacted to this
PrettyThick1 1,860 Posted August 6, 2013 Lisa - I know what you mean about your friends faces! I know someone who has gotten the sleeve and she lost the weight, but her face has aged 15 years over the last 12 months because of the wrinkly skin!!! I am so happy my face isn't doing that, I'm just the opposite - I've rolled back the clock at least 5 years so far. I love it! 6 chasingadream, Debbie3sons, miss679 and 3 others reacted to this

DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted August 6, 2013 As far as clothes- if you can, try finding clothes a season in advance. For instance, last month I bought a bunch of winter clothes because in July they are dirt cheap. I just bought them a size smaller than I'm currently in. This winter I'll be buying summer clothes as I find them on clearance. As far as "skin too big", it really depends on a lot of factors. How much weight you lose, how long you'd been carrying it, age, smoker or non smoker, and genetics. I have a ton of excess skin on my upper arms and thighs but almost none on my face/neck. I'm actually told I look a lot younger since losing weight. However... I never had a huge double chin or anything when I was really big either. 3 PrettyThick1, Debbie3sons and lisacaron reacted to this

DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted August 6, 2013 Your face looks great Missy...your body will match it soon!!! hahaha thanks but my body will only get worse as I lose more weight! Honestly, I really don't mind. The way I look at it is this: I can easily hide excess skin with clothes and still look good. I couldn't hide over 200 pounds of fat no matter what I did. I'll take the excess skin over the excess fat any day 3 Debbie3sons, Sharpie and PrettyThick1 reacted to this

Boy do I relate, not that I have lost over 180 pounds, well all I can say is the suit is wrinkled! The birthday suit that is! But I'd rather have the wrinkles than fill them out. I lost 176 per band, and not 8 since getting banded nearly 2 weeks ago. Everything seems to bag and droop! But all in all I can live with that. Good luck!
