I'm almost a year out from getting my band. I'm FINALLY in a good Green Zone. I'm glad to finally get there because I was almost starting to wonder if my band had a leak or something! It was fill after fill and I seemed to be hungry quite often.

My journey has been wonderful and without any problems and I've lost 105 pounds so far. (Lots more to go to get to the goal I set for myself!) But now, I seemed to have lost interest in food!! I'm sure it's a good problem to have, but is this normal? I can eat anything and don't have any issues, but I don't really have much of an appetite or desire lately for food. I do make sure I get in my Protein and I have been exercising more to get the scale moving again as I did hit a plateau.

So is this just a phase I'm going through right now?

People always talk about not being hungry for a few hours in between meals, and also feeling full....

I have neither...I simply have no interest in food...no interest in eating...

The band is there, properly adjusted, 24 hrs per day, 7 days a week....so it is constantly telling my brain that I am full, that I do not need to eat, 24 hrs per day....but physically I do not, and have never had that full feeling as I did before being banded....it is all a mental thing...

I am not hungry, I do not have a need to eat, therefore I have no interest in food or eating....and it's that way ALL THE TIME....the band is there all the time, so why not??

Another thing that came is that my taste buds have changed dramatically....food does not taste the way it used to...things I used to love I now have to spit out.....

Head hunger...emotional cravings will arise now and then, I'll give in, but after one or 2 bites I can't understand why I'm eating this...I have no desire...this is stupid...so I throw it away.

After a while, head hunger comes and I immediately dismiss it....

Like I said, this is my experience....others work with their bands other ways, not sure why.....and not sure why hunger is only satisfied for a few hours when the band is there 24 hrs.

But that's my experience.....and I LOVE IT !!!!!!

I'm the same when in green zone. Eating is what I had to do to live. Unlike B-52 though I then wanted my food to only taste AMAZING if I had to eat it. But I didn't really experience hunger at all.

I'm actually not seeking the green zone now that I've had a band replacement because my lack of hunger means I lose more weight than is probably healthy for me, but after years of fighting hunger, fighting to gain weight and maintain it was really novel!

I use to be at this point. I have lost a bit of control but today's the day I get back on track. I am getting a fill and taking my Vitamins and making choices that count with the proper portion size. I don't done feeling like crap again. I have not been on this site in 3 years but that is something else I am changing. I need the support and the kick in the butt.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
