Hi everybody. I am a 2nd grade teacher and desperately need lunch ideas. I need something quick as I only have about 15 minutes to sit and eat. I have a microwave in my room that I can use. And I can snack if I get hungry. Typically I take a sandwich or grab something from the lunchroom (when it looks good and i can tell what it is!). But, after surgery, I can't eat sandwiches anymore. I'm not good with wraps either. They get stuck. Any ideas?????

chicken salad, cottage cheese with fruit, Greek yogurt (especially with PB2 added!). Be very careful with portion sizes, you may need to size down lunch with only 15 minutes to eat. It takes me that long at least with all my meals. Protein Bars or shakes for Snacks.< /p>

tuna fish kits, lettuce rollups (just rollup in the lettuce leaves what you like in your sandwich), Soups, left over meat from dinner the night before with a piece of fruit, frozen dinners, I like the new Adkins ones as the carb count is lower...hope this helps!

Have you tried making a sandwich with one of the new flatbread/thin breads? I take a sandwich every day in my cooler using the flat thins and have no problem eating them. When my band is a little tighter, I can eat about half of the sandwich and then eat just the insides later when I need more Protein.

Also, in the cooler weather I make big batches of chili which I freeze in individual servings. I add lots of extra Beans and use only one pound of very lean ground beef. After the chili has cooked and been frozen and thawed, the ground beef doesn't give me any trouble.

Hope this helps! Good luck with those 2nd graders!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
