Recommended Posts

Two weeks post-op. Can't stand up straight yet (PS tells me by week 4). Still quite a bit of swelling around the incision site, upper-inner thighs and pubic area. Pre-surgery weight 128, I'm 5'5". This morning 133.8. Still about 5 lbs. of Fluid and etc. Should be able to start running again next Saturday- I cannot wait. Talk about restless legs syndrome!!!

You look GREAT!!

The swelling and inability to stand up straight are totally normal. I think I was close to 4 weeks post op before I could stand up straight.

I was told it could take as long as 3-6 months to fully heal and have all the swelling subside. I'm currently 3 months post op and I do still have some residual swelling in my abdominal muscles. I can still feel that tight, pulling sensation too but it there's no pain.

Really? Running so soon? That's awesome! How long do you have to wear compression garments?

Yep- PS told me I'd need to ease into it. No more than two miles each run, if I can handle it the first week. After week 4 he feels I can increase the running, up to possibly 5 miles and progress from there. I found my niche in Marathon running and by Labor Day weekend will running a 15K.

Compression 22 hrs a day the first 6 weeks, 12 hours a day (more if possible) up to week 12. I've always ran with compression so won't be changing that much... I know, I know- but I need the support.

Lol I haven't had a Tummy Tuck (yet) and I almost always run with compression tights or shorts. :) I get it. Good luck on the 15k. I'm doing my 4th half in sept.

Just curios as to how are you doing? Also, (if you don't mind me asking), what was your out of pocket expense for all your surgeries?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
