Day 2 Pre-op Diet, No Biggie

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm starting on day 2 of my pre-op diet and it is tolerable. Sure I was hungry, but isn't that the point? I went to Health food Unlimited and bought a variety of whey Protein isolate samples to see what is the best. I did buy a packet of Cookies and Creme Protein powder from GNC, made up a drink yesterday for supper and it wasn't that bad. Ok, the truth is if I didn't have to drink it, I wouldn't but that is where I am right now, so I'll just deal with it. I'm keeping a journal that lists all of the stuff I'm eating and its nutritional content, focusing on Protein. Yesterday I made it to 55g. of protein, the doctor said 60-70 grams a day, I think I'll put an extra Greek yogurt into the day and I would make the goal.

How are you all doing on your pre-op diets?

Im a month post op but I didnt like my pre op. The shakes were yucky for me. That goodness I was able to eat a small me too. 800 Cal total. My pre op was during the 4th of july and all the summer BBQS it was tough but lost a few pounds. I also worked out. I haven't been able to work out since surgery but I go for a fill today and should be cleared as im not in pain. Good luck on surgery.

I am on day 2 tomorrow. Today was ok until the afternoon. I felt exhausted and took a 2 hr nap. My cravings weren't horrible and I tolerated a friend eating chicken tenders/fries. Pretty sure my mouth watered though lol. Every day brings me one step closer. We can do it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
