A week later to the day I was feeling better, able to get in & out of bed with no problem, and most of the pain was GONE!! Rest as much as you can, so your body can heal itself faster. Good luck!

Hi

It was an on again off again situation for about a week. In most cases, I felt good, not great but well enough to keep on. I just went slow and didn't expect too much of myself.

Then there were moments when I felt yucky. I had a lot of problems with shoulder pain from gas.

Even though I was not eating much at all, the pain was there.

If I didn't have the shoulder pain I wouldn't have taken any meds after the first 48 hours.

We are all different, so be kind to yourself and realistic at the same time. Make sure you are taking care of yourself, sticking to your fluids, (seriously), getting lots of rest and up and taking frequent small walks. The activity really helps.

take care

I was in pain the first four, five days. But I was totally well at the end of second week, don't worry the second day is the most terrible day because the sedatives are cleared from your system now. I promise you will be very fine soon. :)

I was banded on Aug. 1st and I was, well prepared....at least I thought so. I never researched the pain. I don't tolerate pain very well. This is day 4 of postop and I'm starting to feel better. Just do what your doctor told you to do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
