Hi can anyone help me - I have not had any pb or vomiting yet and had my first fill 25/7 - is this because I am eating the right amount? Also have managed to eat bread and some Pasta - didnt think I would of been able to?

Hi poppyken. PB and vomiting can happen if you eat too big a bite, eat too fast, don't chew well, or the band is too tight. They should be the exception rather than a common occurrence. If you are eating according to your doctor's instructions and able to be satisfied for 3 or 4 hours after meals then you are good to go! Be thankful you have not had pb or vomiting as they are not good feelings and can be quite scary.

My surgeon told me I should be able to eat any and all food as long as I take small bites and chew well. I personally don't have any problems with Pasta or rice. I haven't eaten bread since being banded as I prefer eating most of my calories in Protein and vegies. The only things I have problems with are steak and chex mix.

Wishing you much luck on your weight loss adventure!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
